Gavin and I had a talk last night. He told me why he came to London. He came here because some of the templars mentioned that they were having meetings in Rome because the Antichrist was in London. Lovely, hmm? So Gavin fled here, from Edinburgh, because he figured they wouldn't follow him anywhere they knew the Antichrist to be. Now pardon me while I spell that out, just in case anyone skimmed and missed the implications there. Gavin, a devout Catholic, deliberately ran to the city he believed the Antichrist to be in, because he felt safer here than with the templars. Who are, in fact, devout Catholics themselves. Is it wrong that that gives me a sense of nearly physical pleasure? After all, they were referring to me there. And we are the ones that took him in, and fed and clothed and sheltered him. All of which are Christian principles, clearly being ignored by those fuckers. And the person they brand the Antichrist is the one following them!? Goddammit.

Ahem. Sorry. Religious ranting over. Sometimes it's difficult to separate the man from the priest. Anyway, I explained the whole 'Antichrist' situation to him, and he didn't seem surprised that the templars were that deluded. And he's doing very well this morning. I'm very glad he's here. He's a very nice and thoughtful young man.

And now I have an angel to see.

Alright, am I correct in assuming that one day you'll explain this all to me, because...I really don't understand.

I'm very glad he's doing well though. You're right, he is a very nice young man. He didn't even whine like you did when I was seeing to him.

Date: 2007-07-02 04:40 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Of course I will, Abby. If you really want to hear it.

But you didn't have to poke him! For which I am very grateful, mind...

I think I should. You can tell me on my couch. See where I'm going there?

That's true. And I am grateful too.

Date: 2007-07-02 04:41 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
I do see where you're going there, you clever thing. And I think you're just about right too. Couch it is.

Oh goodness, you're cheating on me with feelings!!

Joking aside, I just hope he feels safe here. Poor thing deserves it.

Date: 2007-07-02 04:46 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
I said nearly physical! So that's only like...half cheating at most...

I hope he does too, Beautiful.

I would say that the principles by which you live your life are not only Christian principles, but the principles of all good men the world over. You live with a truly "holy spirit" in the way that you treat others. Were there any justice in organised religion, you'd be sainted. But as ever, it is to the truly faithful - those with faith in Good, not God - to do the right thing, without aid of franchises and corporate religion. To put it more briefly, I'm so glad that Gavin has found safety with you. And I do appreciate the irony. It would cause a right grin if it weren't under such dire circumstances.

Good luck at the hospital, Peter. Give Spence my love, if you can.

Date: 2007-07-02 07:38 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Well of course they are, but it says to do what we've done specifically in the Bible and those arseholes are ignoring it. That was my point. It's like they feel they get to choose which parts they like and which parts they don't. Which is just not on. And yes, I'm not grinning either. But the irony was too much not to point out.

I certainly will.

Date: 2007-07-02 10:44 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] seminalsemiotic.livejournal.com
Yes, the Bible isn't some gossip magazine where you can just choose your favourite bits, do the crossword, and call it a day. Sadly, it seems like that's most people's approach to it, though.

Date: 2007-07-02 10:49 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
I never thought of that analogy! Aww I wish I'd used that in a mass! You're brilliant, Renee.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:24 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] seminalsemiotic.livejournal.com
Clearly I missed my calling as a priest *winks* Seriously, thank you. Those words from you mean a great deal.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:26 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
The priest with two girlfriends. Well I certainly wouldn't blame you! Seriously, you're welcome. I mean them.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:53 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] deirdre-ionuin.livejournal.com
I can be a priest with two girlfriends!! Except I don't know what epistles are.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:53 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
It's okay, I don't think my parishioners did either.

I'm glad Gavin is still doing well. You're right, he's a lovely young man. I'm amazed at how well his kind and thoughtful personality has been preserved through over a year of cruelty and abuse. He must be so strong.

I just want to say that it's a pleasure and an honour to be living under the Antichrist's roof. After all, it was a dream of mine long before I knew you. Though to be honest, I never imagined I'd be calling him "Dad", but there you go.

Date: 2007-07-02 07:40 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
I am sure he is strong. I admire him very much.

Well thank you! I'm very glad you do call me dad! And you didn't even have to bring about the apocalypse to do so!

Date: 2007-07-02 10:46 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] empress-tasha.livejournal.com
Well, he's in good company now.

I know, who'd have thought! All those rituals gone to waste. Still, who wants to deal with an Apocalypse, really? It's bad enough just doing final exams.

Date: 2007-07-02 10:51 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Indeed.

Yes. I would, however, take exams over the apocalypse any day.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:25 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] empress-tasha.livejournal.com
I could have taken R.E., then I'd get to write final exams on the Apocalypse. It seems somehow fitting, really.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:26 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Aw, you could have been my study buddy.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:46 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] empress-tasha.livejournal.com
That is one of the cutest things I've ever heard.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:52 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Fantastic!

It always fills me with warmth to see that your house is such a sanctuary, especially in days when you not only have that place, but an entire hospital you have built for the benefit of those in need. It is a beautiful thing to take someone in like that. I hope that Gavin is able to make a full recovery, and it is a bright hope because I feel that there is nowhere better for such a thing than with you.

I have never thought much of religion in my life, but I think very much of the ideals you talk about. They are what I was raised with, and still hold close to my heart. It is worth a very great deal to me to know that those values are carried in the hearts of men who are friends, very good friends and indeed family to me.

Date: 2007-07-02 07:44 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Well thank you, Pierre. Aly's even making preliminary blueprints that will involve building three new rooms instead of two if he's here after the babies are born. She's insane with her blueprints!

I think those ideals should be carried by everyone, but unfortunately at times the very people who are meant to teach them, teach only cruelty. After spending so long as a priest, it makes me want to smack them, shake them and ask them what the hell they think they're trying to accomplish. But I suppose I already know the answer to that, don't I?

Date: 2007-07-02 10:48 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] eligible-boy.livejournal.com
Wow, Aly's awesome :) It's so cool that you would plan to have Gavin with you for so long. He's so lucky to have come across you.

I too feel lucky to have found a teacher who really does espouse the finer aspects of humanity. I want to do the very same thing to those people who teach cruelty, but I have a feeling if they did give that answer that we already know, then I would give them a piece of my mind that might be more than they can chew. Mixed metaphors ftw.

Date: 2007-07-02 10:52 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
He can be here as long as he needs. Aly just like doing blueprinty, planny things.

Chew your....mind. Yes. Ew. Though they could use it. A piece of your mind, I mean! Oy.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:26 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] eligible-boy.livejournal.com
Fair enough, making up blueprints is fun!

Yeah, gets to a pretty disgusting place, doesn't it? Probably best to stick with the smacking and shaking!

Date: 2007-07-02 11:27 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
You and Aly are weird.

Probably best to stick with the smacking and shaking! Rrrright.

Date: 2007-07-02 11:46 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] eligible-boy.livejournal.com
I don't think we ever claimed to be normal ;)

Date: 2007-07-02 11:54 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
That's true!

Date: 2007-07-02 08:55 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] appearstobe.livejournal.com
Well, it's ironic that the Antichrist is more Christian than them. Hope the poor guy feels better soon.

Date: 2007-07-02 10:07 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Indeed. And thank you, I hope that too.

Date: 2007-07-02 04:50 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] to-be-fated.livejournal.com
I still can't believe they think you're the Antichrist.

I've been reading your journal because I can't sleep.

Whoa.

Date: 2007-07-02 04:50 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
Neither can I!

Are you okay? Is it just restlessness, or do you need company?

It's a bit that way, yes.

Date: 2007-07-02 04:55 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] to-be-fated.livejournal.com
I'm okay. Just restless. Thank you for the computer!

Date: 2007-07-02 04:55 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
No problem at all. Are you hungry? I could fix a late night snack that I promise I didn't cook.

Date: 2007-07-02 04:59 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] to-be-fated.livejournal.com
I could eat. I like to eat. Is it bad if you cook?

Date: 2007-07-02 05:00 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] father-peter.livejournal.com
I have a certain knack for burning things. Unless of course, you want pancakes and bacon. That's the only thing I'm good at. Do you want that? It's more than a snack, but...I'm game if you are.

Date: 2007-07-02 05:00 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] to-be-fated.livejournal.com
Pancakes and bacon! I would love them! Thank you, Peter.

You are very welcome, Gavin. Meet you in the kitchen.
