David, I would say I can't imagine what you're going through right now, but the truth is I can. I know how it felt when Katherine took Lydia. And I hate to think of you going through that. I know you're not alone but I don't know how much other people would understand.

Tasha and Hope are having a bonfire to 'celebrate' Ash Wednesday. We're burning things we don't need anymore. Old letters and news clippings from Katherine and Antanasia respectively. Hope wants s'mores. If you wanted to come over and sit or talk or do anything, we'd be glad to have you. Thomas is here and he'd like to see you. And Mary and Christina, of course. And I even promise Thomas won't do a nude firedance. Or...if he does, I'll block him from view with a sheet or something... If you don't want to, I understand. But I wanted you to have the option.

I can't be here. Lavannah should be here. Being surrounded by family sounds the much better option. Lavannah should be there, too, but at least... I don't know. There is no "at least". But it feels like it could be different.

It seems we can always understand at each at times like these. It's both heartening and immensely depressing to know that we've endured so much of the same crap.
