Right. I went to see the lovely Goddess of Pain again today. I have to admit to being a little stumped by this one. It's hard to help someone when you don't speak their language. She's a fast learner though and she does speak some English. I asked her if she liked killing people (as you do) and she did not say yes. I asked her if she liked being evil and...beyond the lovely beating, she couldn't give me anything else. Just her name. No answer. She kept saying "I am Ganub" "I am the God of Evil". Like that very fact meant she had to do what she's been doing. She seemed confused by the question. But I don't think she likes the things she does.

She mentioned names and I had to look it up online because I had to try about a thousand different spellings before I found anything (other than porn, surprise surprise) but finally I found this.

And looky. His opposite number is the nasty GANUB, with whom he battled furiously. There's never a minute's peace when you're Supreme Deity. (Or a Peter!)

She said that. She battled thinger. Whoosits. And now I assume...that...is in the body of a little girl who thinks she has to eat hearts. Which ew.

GANUB is unspeakably evil — so we won't speak about it. However, he did create the rainbow so he can't be all bad.

Well...hope springs eternal. And now off to research in the real place they call the library. If anyone feels bookish, you're welcome to accompany me, though I understand there's burning afoot? Maybe tomorrow is a better idea for research.

And...because sometimes it hurts and I need a reminder of why I do what I do...I went over to welcome Kait and Renee back to the country on my way home (Peter needed snuggles) and Rosa greeted me at the door. She gave me a huge kiss and a hug and she said "Hellloooooo, Peter Bighair!" And I love that. I love her. And that she's able to be here with us.

And, of course, they help as well )

Hello! Birthdays are magnificent! I went out to lunch with my wonderful family and we had a very good time. Robert gave me a shiny shirt and Aly gave me...well...stuff..

And then Aly took this picture of me in the shiny shirt )

Which she says makes me look like I belong in the Mafia. Don't I look amused? It must be the unshaven thing. I'm so grotty when I have a headache...but look, no bruises (at least not on my face)! And that's Robert's ring you can see around my neck. You can't usually see it because I'm not usually wearing mafioso chic. Robert won't let me take the shirt jackety thing OFF now. He's so mean.

Apparently I have a thing later tonight. Aly won't tell me what it is, but I am excited now! I hope you are all having a good day as well!

Thomas was in a weird mood this afternoon so little Thomas and I cheered him up! And then we played in the pool. Meaning I sat on the side with the baby and Aly, and Thomas and Gavin chased around the kids and everyone had a grand old time. Then we had a nice big family dinner...it was really nice. It's just been a really nice few days.

And now, because my Aly is gorgeous, I am sharing these. They make me feel so lucky. I am too, so that's good.

David is married!! And he and Christina are safely on their...whatever it is they're doing. And the party here is still going, but I am old and tired, so I came inside amid shrieks of happiness and cheer (not because I was leaving...)

Last night was the bachelor party and it was...interesting. How come it was David's bachelor party and they still kept buying ME lapdances. Is it because I turn red? I was Not Amused. There was a barely clad girl dancing over me and all I could think was 'I wonder if she gets cold when she does this in the winter? I should give her a blanket.' Which I don't think is the point. Thomas, however, had the night of this life and he said announced "There should always be bachelor parties" rather loudly to everyone. He didn't get a feather boa this time, though. Woe is Thomas.

This is going to be long. I shall cut it just for you. Today was the wedding. )

Today was mad. That's...kind of the only way to describe it. This morning we decided to undertake an expedition to the museum of Valencia. It's....incredible. Look. Christina wanted to accompany us, as she and Aly are both British Museum alums. It was amusing to hear them comparing notes. "Our displays are so much better." And then I said that the people who worked at the British Museum were so much more beautiful too, and they both kissed my cheek!! Peter wins! Anyway, Christina was not the only one that decided to come along. Svetlana wanted to see it as well, and thus, we dragged Thomas along for the ride. He was Not Pleased to be taken away from his ocean. In fact, he made quite a point to look grotty and wear the most touristy things he could find. And a hat. Because days in the sea water make Thomas's hair all curly! Hee! Anyway, he started making the best faces while we were waiting (forever) for a tram. He looked quite annoyed. And then Svetlana befriended some American tourists and she informed them rather loudly "This is Thomas! He is my impotent boyfriend! And that is why Peter is my baby daddy!" And then Thomas looked at me like this. Poooor Thomas. And he insists it was because he was hungry, but I know the truth. Emma, meanwhile, is confused because she did not know Svetlana was having my child (oops...)

Anyway...in the afternoon, Lydia went with the older girls to go shopping. They were rather successful and brought back some wonderful things. And some holes in some ears. But Lydia looks very grown up and beautiful. Then came meeting family members I've never met before. Cousin Vincenza, who is a 17 year old who must be some sort of supermodel. And for some reason she wouldn't let go of me. That is when I realised I picked up a bit of crazy down in St. Sebastians. I do not like people touching me if I don't know them. She's Aly's family, and I was terrified she was going to jab my side with a hot poker. Anyway, then I met her father, Cousin Alejandro and he was confused when Jacinta introduced me as her son. He said "David, what have you done with your hair?" and I think David was a tad insulted at that. Me, I just giggled. But then he hugged me and I had a panic attack. But I hid it well, thank you! Hopefully I'll get over that whole...DON'T TOUCH ME thing. Probably when lovely family members don't hot poker me in the side. Or...anywhere else.

Ahem. Best part of the night? During David's rehearsal dinner, Brian decided to be an arse. He walked up to David and inquired as to why he was getting married to a woman if he's gay. He could take a hint from 'the lesbos' instead. And Thomas, who had had enough today, just punched him in the arm. No hesitation. And Brian looked shocked. And everyone applauded Thomas and he's now been accepted as a cousin too!

Impotence and all.

David gets married tomorrow!!

Well! Today was a wonderful day! My sister proposed to Emma. She said yes, of course. They're off 'celebrating'. And David's getting married on Tuesday! Such excellent and happy news. We took a day off from touristing too and so I spent all afternoon watching Thomas do this )

Today, Lydia and I talked and she's so grown up it scares me a little! She wants to get her ears pierced. And considering everything she's come through, I think she deserves to make that decision. She's excited because she gets to go shopping with Hope and Tasha and Zoe and Isabella. Meanwhile Daddy sits home and has a minor flipout that she'll come back with a mohawk or something. But she's proven that she's mature beyond her years and she deserves to have fun. And considering that all of her siblings are younger with the exception of Tasha, she also deserves to spend some time with older people who aren't parental units. I'm so proud of her.

And David. And Emma. And Liz. And I love Aly so very much.

Miguel, however, keeps trying to give me tequila. "For celebrate!" He is very nice and everything, but I currently do not love Miguel. And I wish I had some tequila. But wouldn't that just ruin a perfectly wonderful holiday. (I'll just keep reminding myself of that every 20 seconds).

Aly told me to do the photo thing. So that is what I am doing. By the way, Spain rocks. And I am having the best time, and cannot properly articulate how wonderful it is. Well, not without being a little naughty.

Valencia! And things! )

My wonderful son is a month old today. To celebrate, Aly bought a video camera and proceeded to film me squealing and running out of shot for a good oh...seven hours. Apparently it never gets old. I beg to very much differ. Oh and she filmed the baby too. And...other things, but that was totally on a different tape. One can never be too careful.

Anyway, so we broke the camera in good and proper. Please do not punch me, David. I bruise like a peach.

Aly also took this picture. He is my handsome little man! So adorable when he's sleeping. And when he's awake. And when he's doing anything and everything ever.

And now there is singing and Lydia, Anna and Caleb make Thomas a cake. I did not help, but Aly did. I got to play with cutie widdle baby while they did all the hard work! And now I will eat the cake of their labour!

I think Svetlana and I had a breakthrough yesterday. Not about the horrifying names...she remembered things about her past. Things that aren't the lies she's believed for years. And I think she's going to be okay. She seemed it. And then she ate probably 4 pizzas. Deirdre watched her. She can tell you.

I went to visit Thomas's mother today. Big Thomas's mother, though I went to visit Aly today too. I couldn't bring the baby with me to the hospital, but I brought him with me to see Thomas's mother. Who's name is Lavinia but she wouldn't let me call her that! She made me call her mum. Anyway, I thought it only fair that she meet the boy I named after her son. She was absolutely thrilled. She insisted that he call her 'grandma' when he gets older, which I suppose is fair enough because he only has one of those. (Lavannah, please don't let my mum slap me again for saying that...) We had a good talk and she hogged my son the entire time. It was good to see. She talked about Thomas growing up and how his siblings are doing. And then she said all these wonderful things about how much my friendship meant to Thomas. It was good to hear, because I know how much his friendship meant and means to me. Which I told her too, by the way. Oh, and she didn't call me an orphan once! Which is odd, because that was her favourite thing to call me. Lavinia is rather odd, but you would be to have a child like Thomas. She did, however, do something.

I've been avoiding saying anything here, mostly because I wasn't sure what I should say. But I'm worried you'll all think I've gone off the rails or something if I keep avoiding it. So hello. I'm not okay. But I will be. Three days ago, I saw my wife die. And she fought her way back because that's who she is. But I still saw it happen, and it's not something easily forgotten. Though I have to admit, he helps. A great deal.

Thomas is lying beside me in his little carrier, waving his arms around because I'm singing to him. I'm showing him the internet because I'm a horrible influence. He liked some of the colourful pages I found. We're wasting time until dinner because he woke up early from his nap because someone so not me tripped over the bed and yelped. Okay it was me. Lydia, Caleb and Anna went with Edward to see Aly. He came to talk to me. It was very strange, but I think he's been meaning to for a while. Edward doesn't say much, as a rule, but he said more to me this afternoon than I think he has ever. When I married his daughter he said 'don't fuck it up'. This afternoon he thanked me. He asked me how I was. Oh and he found out I'm a alcoholic. Fantastic. Yeah, he might ask you about that one, David, but he didn't seem overly concerned. And then he spent time with Thomas which was good to see. It wasn't a bad day, afterall.

Tomorrow is Lydia's birthday. We're going to do our best to be cheerful.
